Memphis,TN : Passenger killed, driver charged in crash on March, Tuesday 27th 2018
A woman is dead following a crash in Memphis on Tuesday.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Brantley Road and New Horn Lake Road.
Memphis Police Department said two SUVs collided in the area.
Police said one of the SUVs lost control and spun out in the area, hitting a second vehicle with its right side.
The passenger of the first vehicle, 29-year-old Crystal Todd, was killed in the crash. The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Williesha Todd, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
An 11-year-old boy, also in the first vehicle, was also hospitalized in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle that was hit, a 32-year-old man, was also taken to the hospital in critical condition.
At last check, all three surviving victims were upgraded to be in non-critical condition.
After investigating, officers discovered Williesha Todd swerved to avoid a piece of metal when she lost control of her vehicle. Investigators also said the vehicle had extremely worn tires.
Officers found Todd to have a suspended license and no insurance. She is charged with reckless vehicular homicide, reckless aggravated assault, driving with a suspended license, and financial responsibility law.
