SAN JOSE, CA : One dead in crash on Hwy. 101 on Sunday, 18th September 2016

One person died in a highway crash early Sunday, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol and Santa Clara Coroner’s Office reported that the crash happened at 4:22 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 north of the Blossom Hill Road exit. The vehicle appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit a tree, authorities said.

The CHP pronounced the person dead at the scene.

It was not known immediately whether anyone else was injured. Authorities did not identify the victim immediately or give a gender, pending the notification of relatives.
