Lewiston,ID : Driver arrested after fatal North Lewiston collision on March, Saturday 31th 2018
A 31-year-old California man was arrested and charged with felony vehicular manslaughter in connection with a fatal two-vehicle crash in North Lewiston early Saturday.
According to a news release from the Lewiston Police Department, Pompeyo Salazar-Cabrera was driving a 2015 Swift Transportation tractor-trailer south on U.S. Highway 95 about 6:22 a.m. Saturday when he allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with State Route 128. A 1999 Toyota Camry, driven by Hayden Garrett, 19, of Clarkston was headed eastbound on State Route 128 and was struck by the tractor-trailer at the intersection. The collision caused both vehicles to go into the parking lot area of the Hillary Motel, where they came to rest after striking a parked, unoccupied vehicle.
Garrett was pronounced dead at the scene, the police said. Salazar-Cabrera was uninjured.
