Arlington Heights, IL : Woman injured, 6 others injured when vehicle crashes into Norridge IHOP on Monday afternoon, June 20, 2016
A woman was hospitalized and six others injured Monday afternoon when a vehicle crashed into the IHOP restaurant on the 7000 block of West Forest Preserve Drive in Norridge.
A Ford Explorer SUV, driven by a girl who fire officials said was a minor, lost control and careened into the front window of the popular pancake house at about 1:45 p.m., according to authorities.
The vehicle came to rest inside the restaurant after knocking down the host stand and smashing into the dining area near the front of the restaurant, where several people were inside having lunch, according to Cmdr. David Blondell of the Norwood Park Fire Protection District.
The hospitalized woman, whose age was unknown, had been pulled out of a pile of rubble by another customer before the fire department arrived, Blondell said. She was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in fair condition, fire officials said.
