Iberville Parish, LA : Bicyclist killed after hit-and-run crash on LA 1 in Iberville Parish Sunday May 29, 2016.


Louisiana State Police are investigating the death of a bicyclist who was hit and killed on LA 1 Sunday morning.
State Police say the crash happened just after 2 a.m. on LA 1 south of LA 75 in Iberville Parish.
According to State Police, an initial investigation revealed that the bicyclist, 22-year-old Joshua White, was riding his bike southbound in the left lane of LA 1 when he was struck by a 1999 Honda Accord from behind.
White, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberville Parish Coroner's Office. State Police also added that they don't know if White had the required white light on the from of his bicycle and that he was wearing dark colored clothing at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Honda Accord, 50-year-old Albert Johnson Jr. of Wichita Falls, Texas, and his passenger were transported to Ocshner Hospital in Plaquemine with minor to moderate injuries.
It is currently unknown if impairment played a factor in the crash. Toxicology tests were taken from White and Johnson and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
