Crystal Lake, IL : Cary man injured, charged with DUI after I-90 crash on Tuesday night, March 7, 2017
A 24-year-old Cary man was charged with driving under the influence of drugs after a crash Tuesday night on westbound I-90, west of Route 72 in Hoffman Estates, according to a release from Illinois State Police.
The driver, Jarrid J. Arranz, was reported to be traveling at a high speed before his 2003 Saturn struck a guardrail and came to rest on its right side, police said.
Arranz was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with serious injuries, police said. As of Wednesday evening, Arranz was in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Arranz also was charged with no insurance, no driver’s license on person, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, failure to wear a seat belt and improper lane use, police said.
About 7 p.m. Tuesday, Illinois State Police reported the two right lanes of I-90 temporarily were closed because of the crash.
