New Philadelphia, OH : Minerva police officer in pursuit is injured in crash on Sunday, February 18th 2017

MINERVA A village police officer, Dustin Chase, was injured Sunday morning when he was involved in a two-vehicle crash while pursuing a fleeing motorist.

Chase, 32, and the other motorist in the crash, a 50-year-old Minerva man, were treated and released at Aultman Hospital. The subject Chase was pursuing, Joshua Brady, 39, eventually was apprehended and was taken the Carroll County Jail. Brady of Minerva is facing a felony charge of failure to comply with a police officer's order.

The crash was in the 1100 block of Alliance Road (state Route 183) on the south side of Minerva. Chase, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol, was pursuing a motorist in a westbound direction on state Route 183 at a high rate of speed. As Chase attempted to drive around a second westbound vehicle, that driver turned left, causing a collision with the pursuing police officer.

The vehicle Chase was in rolled over and caught fire. The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating the crash involving Officer Chase.
