CEDAR FALLS, IA : Semi crashes along Highway 218 near Cedar Falls on Sunday, 18th February 2024

Authorities said one person was injured in a crash involving a semi truck and trailer North of Cedar Falls early Sunday morning.

The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. along U.S. 218 near the Dunkerton Road overpass around.

The semi appeared to have left the roadway and came to rest in some trees along the southbound lanes.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office said the crash occurred because the driver suffered a medical emergency. He had some small abrasions but is okay overall. First responders took the driver to a local hospital.

Authorities are still investigating what caused the crash.
