Abilene, TX : 82-year-old man killed in vehicle crash Coleman County Highway 283 on Saturday October 8 2016

An 82-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon as he attempted to cross U.S. Highway 283 on an all-terrain vehicle.

Charles Author Darden of Rockwood was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Darden was riding the 4-wheel ATV in the roadway ditch and attempted to cross the highway when he was hit by a car.

Three passengers in the car were treated and released at the scene.
