JACKSON TWP, OH : Guatemalan nationals involved in drunk-driving crash on Thursday, November, 23rd 2017
Township police arrested a pair of Guatemalan nationals after a suspected drunk-driving crash about 3 p.m. Thursday at an apartment complex.
Sgt. Dan Vaughn said the 24-year-old driver, who is identified in Stark County Jail records as homeless, lost control of the vehicle, struck a wooden pole and then a building at 2:41 p.m. Thursday at 5916 Shakertown Drive NW.
Police believe he was driving drunk, according to the jail records.
His 19-year-old passenger fled the scene.
According to the jail records, about a half hour later officers found the young man, who lives in the 1700 block of Huron Street in Massillon, passed out in a nearby building.
He was jailed on misdemeanor charges of underage alcohol consumption and disorderly conduct.
The driver was jailed on on misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failure to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of the crash, speeding and two counts of driving without a valid license.
