Groveland, FL : Man dead after ejected from car that struck trees near Groveland early Saturday on September 27, 2014
A 21-year-old Clermont man died in a crash near Groveland early Saturday, a Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
Markie Conley was a passenger in a 2008 Nissan Altima going north on Lee Road around 2 a.m. Saturday, said FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes.
The car's driver, 21-year-old Stanley Evans of Groveland, crossed two lanes on SR 50, hit a palm tree, spun into an oak tree, and split into two pieces, Montes said.
Conley was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene, Montes said.
Evans was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, Montes said.
Another passenger was brought to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, and a third was taken to South Lake Hospital with minor injuries.
FHP is investigating the crash, and charges are pending, Montes said.
