AUSTELL, GA : 1 killed, 2 injured in multi-car pileup on Cobb County road on Tuesday, 16th July 2024

Police are investigating a deadly crash involving several vehicles in Austell on Tuesday afternoon.

The wreck happened on Hicks Road near the East-West Connector.

The Cobb County Police Department (CCPD) says its preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a GMC Sierra crossed the center line and collided with the left side of a Yukon, causing it to flip onto its side and come to rest on the shoulder. The Sierra continued south in the northbound lane and collided with a Ford Escape, pushing it into a guardrail over a creek. The Sierra also collided with a Hyundai Sonata, according to police.

CCPD says the driver of the Ford Escape died at the scene. The driver of the Sierra and the Sonata were taken to area hospitals with visible injuries. The driver of the Yukon was not injured.
