Shelby County , OH : Five pepole were injured after two crashes between three Vehicles on Saturday , December 13th 2014
According to a release from the Ohio Highway Patrol Piqua Post, troopers are investigating two crashes involving three vehicles that happened at approximately 1:51 a.m. On I-75 South near mile marker 87 in Shelby County.
The interstate was shut down for about one and a half hours, according to OSP.
A black 2008 Pontiac G5, driven by Amber hall, 20, of Monroe, was traveling northbound on I-75 when she ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail, according to the patrol.
Hall re-entered the roadway and crossed the median, drove across the southbound lanes and struck a guardrail on the Miami River bridge, according to the patrol.
Hall was initially transported to the Upper Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, but was later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.
Two passengers in the Pontiac, Christopher Shepperd, 21, of Middletown, and James West, 30, of Middletown, were both transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital.
Shepperd, who sustained serious injuries, was later transferred to the Miami Valley Hospital.
A second crash occurred at the same location when a 2006 Ford 500, driven by Ruth Oekle, 42, of Defiance, stopped in the right lane of southbound I-75 to render assistance to the victims of the first crash.
A 2003 Cadillac, driven by Philip Putterbaugh, 52, of Piqua, was unable to avoid the stopped Ford and struck it.
Oekle and Putterbaugh were taken to Wilson Memorial with non-life-threatening injuries.
