PROVIDENCE, RI : Connecticut boy missing after dirt bike crash on Monday, December 26th 2016
Police are searching for a man who has been missing since Monday.
According to Connecticut State Police, 18-year-old Todd Allen, of Sterling Connecticut, was last seen at approximately 1 p.m. the day after Christmas riding a dirt bike.
Allen frequents the Rails-to-Trials bike path that goes from Sterling into Coventry.
Police say the last phone contact with Allen was on Tuesday, December 26th at approximately 1:50 p.m. at which time he said that he had crashed and hurt his leg.
Cell phone pings have been conducted in an attempt to locate Allen.
However, officials say the ping of the cell phone shows that the phone is turned off or the battery died and an accurate location cannot be obtained.
Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management officials are now assisting in this search.
Connecticut State Police have deployed the State Police helicopter in addition to K9 teams.
Authorities describe Allen as a white male approximately 5-foot-10 with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a camouflage sweatshirt, and a back pack.
Allen left on his Honda XR100 dirt bike in an unknown direction.
If you have any information, police ask that you contact Connecticut State Police at 860-779-4900.
Police also ask people to refrain from conducting independent searches of the area as all search efforts are being coordinated from the Command Post at the Sterling Fire Department.
