East Lansing, MI: State police investigate fatal crash on Wednesday, May 31, 2017

Troopers from the Michigan state Police Lakeview Post responded to a fatal head-on traffic crash that occured on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at approximately 11:25 p.m. on M-46 near Cedar Lake, in Home Township in Montcalm County. Preliminary Investigation revealed that a 42 -year-old man, from Vestaburg, was driving westbound on M-46 Hwy and struck a 19-year-old male driver heading eastbound. Alcohol may have been involved as Police detected one vehicle had swerved into the opposite lane.
Both victims were flown out via helicopter to a nearby hospital. Mark Engram, 42, suffered minor injuries while Robert Weston, 19, is in critical condition.
Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor.
The crash is still under investigation.
Assisting with the scene were personnel from the Home Twp Fire Department, and Montcalm County EMS.
