Hanover, WV : Fiery tractor trailer crash causes delays on Interstate 95 north on early Tuesday morning October 21st 2014
According to highway officials, a crash that occurred around 3 a.m. continues to affect traffic on Interstate 95 north near the Lewistown Road interchange (mm 89).
Virginia State Police say a vehicle cut in front of a tractor trailer causing it to run off the road, hit a guard rail, overturn and catch on fire. The truck was not carrying hazardous material, but its fuel tank was ruptured.
The tractor trailer driver, Todd M. Gerver, 55, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, was not injured in the crash.
All lanes were closed during cleanup, but the left lane has now reopened. The backup is currently 3 miles.
Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route. Traffic is currently being routed off at Exit 89 (Lewistown Road) and then back on Interstate 95 north.
I-95 south accident, delays cleared
There was also an accident on I-95 south that has closed four lanes near the Bells Road exit. There had been a 5-mile backup.
All lanes are now open, and the backup has cleared.
