Orlando,FL : A driver was killed in Orange County on April, monday 1st 2017
A driver was killed in Orange County early Monday when a car crashed into three trees and toppled power lines, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal wreck was reported around 2 a.m. on Curry Ford Road at Cypress Springs Parkway near Alafaya Trail.FHP spokeswoman Kim Montes said a 2014 Infiniti was traveling east on Curry Ford Road when it left the road and struck three trees and a power pole, splitting the vehicle and 50-foot pole in half.
The driver, 19-year-old Long Nguyen, of Orlando, was pronounced dead at the scene, Montes said.
The live power lines prevented authorities from getting to the man's body for several hours.
Duke Energy said crews were called to the scene around 4 a.m. and decided not to cut the power off because the lines were not low enough to be a danger to others and to avoid disrupting power to nearby customers. They later disabled power to the downed line.
Roads were closed in the area.
No other details have been released.
