Four people, including a driver, child and two students, were injured after a school bus heading to a Gaston County high school was hit by a car on Thursday morning, officials say.
The accident happened on Mauney Road in Stanley around 7:30 a.m. Officials believe the 23 students onboard were from Highland School of Technology in Gastonia. The bus was heading to East Gaston High School.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol says the bus was stopped with the stop arm and sign extended and red lights activated when the bus was hit. The driver of the car reportedly failed to stop and ran into the rear of the bus.
Two of the 23 students on the bus were taken to the CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Mount Holly with minor injuries.
The driver and a child inside the car, wedged underneath the bus, were taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia with minor injuries.
Troopers say charges may be filed in this crash.
