Columbus, OH : Speed is a factor in a crash that killed a teen driver on April, Thursday 27th 2017
Speed is a factor in a crash that killed a teen driver Thursday, Cincinnati police said.
Fire crews responded to Winton and Kings Run roads just before 5 p.m.
Christen Jones, 18, was driving a 1997 Ford Taurus station wagon south on Winton Road when he tried to pass a vehicle in the right lane, police said.
The station wagon bumped into a 2002 Ford Windstar in the left lane and lost control of his vehicle, which crossed the double yellow line into northbound Winton Road traffic.
An oncoming 2014 Ford Fusion hit his vehicle, critically injuring him, police said.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Fusion, Gary Edwards, 32, was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
He was treated and released, police said.
The driver of the Windstar was not hurt.
All drivers wore seatbelts, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to call Cincinnati Police Traffic Unit: 513-352-2514.
