Adrian, MI : Two killed in St. Joseph County crash on Sunday afternoon, April 9, 2017
Two people died as a result of a crash Sunday afternoon in Colon Township. St. Joseph County Sheriff deputies said following an incident in Branch County, a 38-year-old Colon man was traveling at a high rate of speed in the 33000 of Wattles Road in Colon Township about 2:30 p.m. Police said he lost control of his vehicle which ran off the road and crossed both lanes of the road. His car stuck a 53-year-old woman who was on a riding lawnmower mowing her lawn. After striking the woman, the vehicle rolled several times before striking a tree. Both people were pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies are not releasing the names of the victims as they continue to notify next of kin. Assisting deputies were, Colon and Bronson Fire departments, LifeCare Ambulance, West Michigan AirCare, St. Joseph County Victim Services and the Michigan State Police.
