Solano County, CA : Man Killed, two injured in Rollover Crash near Pleasants Valley Road on early Sunday, September 7, 2014

A driver was killed and two passengers were injured in a rollover crash on a rural unnamed fire road near Pleasants Valley Road and the terminus of Sackett Lane early Sunday. The driver, Stephen Hoffman, 71, of Dixon was declared dead at the scene. The two passengers, Kevin Hodell, 45, and Zachary Hodell, 8, also from Dixon, sustained moderate injuries. According to CHP, the incident began around 9 a.m. on Sunday when Solano CHP received a call that a 1968 Toyota Land Cruiser was overturned on a rural dirt road in an unincorporated area of Solano County near Putah Creek. The caller reported that there had been three occupants in the Land Cruiser, one of which was reported to have sustained fatal injuries when he was ejected from the vehicle. CHP and fire responders could not locate the vehicle at first. CHP Helicopter 32 eventually found it by coordinating with one of the injured passengers, who was on a cell phone call with CHP dispatch. Hoffman and the two Hodells were deer hunting before the vehicle lost traction while driving down a steep grade, according to CHP.
