Springfield, OH :Series of crashes shut down EB I-70 in Springfield on Saturday, December 17th 2016

Interstate 70 is back open after five crashes this evening shut down eastbound lanes just past Ohio 72 in Springfield.

The first crash was reported at 4:28 p.m., and the rest were chain-reaction crashes as traffic stopped for the first crash. Weather was a factor because visibility was near zero along that stretch of interstate, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Springfield Post.

Injuries were reported in some of the crashes, but there was no information on how many people were hurt nor the extent of injuries.
