Redding, CA : Driver arrested after causing crash with motorcyclist downtown on Saturday, February 14, 2015
Redding police said they arrested a 27-year-old Wyoming woman Saturday on suspicion of being an impaired driver after she caused a collision with a motorcyclist downtown.
Police went to Pine and Lincoln streets about 4:25 p.m. after getting a report of a collision between a 2003 Acura sedan and a 1999 Suzuki motorcycle.
Mary Durney was driving the car north in the center lane of Pine Street when she tried to make a left turn onto Lincoln Street, police said. Durney turned directly into the path of Tearney Lemon, 19, of Palo Cedro, who was riding the motorcycle north on Pine Street in the far, left lane, police said.
Lemon was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with abrasions and a fractured wrist, police said. Lemon had been wearing a helmet while Durney was wearing a seat belt and wasn’t injured, police said.
Officers determined Durney was driving under the influence of drugs and was arrested, police said. She was booked into Shasta County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury, police said.
