Perry, FL : Tony Alton Southerland, 57, killed in pedestrian crash on US Highway 19/27 in Taylor County on thursday Aug 6th 2015

A man was struck and killed in an early morning accident in Taylor County Thursday.

The Florida Highway Patrol says 57-year-old Tony Alton Southerland of Coolidge, Georgia was walking east across US Highway 19/27 around 6:38 a.m. in when he was hit by a 56-year-old man driving a 2004 Ford F-150.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Southerland was driving north on US 19 when he crossed southbound lanes and struck a concrete culvert. His vehicle overturned as it entered a water filled ditch.

Southerland exited the overturned vehicle and was struck by a passing Ford F-150 vehicle. Southerland was pronounced dead on scene.

FHP says charges are pending an investigation.
