A 40-year-old Palmdale man was killed and two Hanford residents were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening on Highway 41 south of Omaha Avenue in Kings County, the California Highway Patrol said.The man, who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, was driving a 1987 Honda Civic southbound in the northbound lanes while passing several vehicles about 7:30 p.m., the CHP said.
Armando Rea, 29, of Hanford was driving a 1993 Honda Civic northbound in the northbound lane and tried to take evasive action, but the two cars struck head-on, the CHP said. Rea, and a passenger, Socorro Zepeda, no age provided, were taken to Community Regional Medical Center. Rea, who was transported by air, had major injuries and Zepeda had minor injuries.The Honda driver was thrown out of his car and died at the scene, the CHP said. The crash is under investigation.
