Greenville County, SC : Motorcyclist died in crash with a van at White Horse Road and North Washington Avenue on Tuesday evening, April 5, 2016

A motorcyclist died in an accident with a van, the Greenville County Coroner's Office said.

Charles Benjamin Waldner, 41, of Piedmont, died at the scene of the wreck Tuesday evening at White Horse Road and North Washington Avenue, Coroner Parks Evans said.

Troopers said Waldner was operating a 1987 Suzuki motorcycle with a rear seat passenger when the collision happened about 6:35 p.m.

Waldner, who was traveling north on U.S. 25, was struck by a van attempting to turn left onto North Washington, according to Lance Cpl. David Jones of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Waldner was wearing a helmet and died at the scene, the Coroner's Office said. His passenger was ejected from the motorcycle and transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, Jones said.

Jones said the driver of the van was charged with failure to yield right of way.
