Lund, NV : Resident Deputy Sheriff and 9-year-old girl died in a crash on State Route 318 in Nye County on Wednesday, Nov 25, 2015

Eureka County Sheriff's Office reported that a Resident Deputy Sheriff and a 9-year-old girl died in an accident on State Route 318 in Nye County on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

An official report said that while travelling south for Thanksgiving, the family was in an accident that left 29-year-old Michael Patrick Harter and 9-year-old Haley Lynn Page dead at the scene.

The Sheriff's office said that Michael had served Eureka County and Crescent Valley for four years as a Resident Deputy Sheriff. Michael was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and had previously served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Carson City Sheriff's Office, according to officials.

The report described Haley as an 'outstanding young lady who lit up the room with her smile, charm, and quick wit.' She was enrolled at Crescent Valley Elementary School.
