One driver is dead after a two-vehicle crash involving a Newberry County deputy.
Corporal Sonny Collins with the South Carolina High Patrol reports the deputy was responding to a call with lights and sirens activated when the patrol car collided with another vehicle. It happened around 6:40 p.m. in front of Newberry High School, at the intersection of SC-219 and Chapman Road.
The deputy was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia with non-life threatening injuries, according to Corporal Collins. The driver of the other vehicle was killed.
The Newberry County Coroner has not yet released the identity of the victim.
