West Point ,CA : One Calaveras High School student four others injured after single car crash on Monday ,June 1st 2015

A Calaveras High School student died Tuesday after she and four friends from West Point were injured in a solo car crash Monday afternoon on Highway 26 east of Sandy Gulch Road.
Mike Spagnola, father of Brittany Rafferty, said in an online message that Rafferty had died at a hospital but that her brother Billy, also injured, was stable late Tuesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol reported that junior Brittany Stinnett, 17, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with classmate Brittany Rafferty, 16, in the passenger seat and sophomores Andrew Alvarado, 17, and Andrew Garcia, 16, and senior Billy Rafferty, 18, in the rear seat. Billy and Brittany Rafferty go by the last name Spagnola on social media sites.
The Monte Carlo was eastbound on Highway 26, east of Sandy Gulch Road, at about 55 miles per hour. Stinnett and Brittany Rafferty were wearing their seatbelts, but all three rear passengers were unrestrained, the CHP reported. Stinnett reportedly realized she had traveled into the opposing lane of traffic and turned back to the right abruptly and lost control of the vehicle. The Monte Carlo traveled off of the paved roadway and the right front of the car struck a large tree.
Brittany Rafferty took the brunt of the impact from the tree, although she was wearing her seatbelt, said CHP Officer Rebecca Myers.
Brittany Rafferty and Billy Rafferty were transported by air ambulances to hospitals for major injuries. Garcia was transported by ground ambulance to Sutter Amador Hospital for treatment of major injuries. Stinnett and Alvarado, who were on the left side of the car at the time of impact, were transported to Sutter Amador Hospital by family members for treatment of minor injuries.
