Hedgesville, West Virginia
No children were injured Wednesday afternoon when a Berkeley County School bus was involved in a traffic accident.
At approximately 4:38 p.m., Berkeley County Central Dispatch called emergency crews to the accident near the 4700 block of Hedgesville Road –in front of Hedgesville Elementary, according to the 911 scanner.
The bus driver advised that everyone on the bus was okay, and the driver of the Mazda was experiencing some numbness “possibly due to shock” and requested to be checked out, the scanner said.
The bus involved was carrying the Hedgesville Middle School boys basketball team to a game in Jefferson County, according to Berkeley County Sheriff Curtis Keller.
The driver of the Mazda was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Keller said.
Traffic was backed up for over an hour on Hedgesville Road as officers investigated and cleared the scene. Keller said speed was not a factor in the incident.
