Orlando, FL : Lawn worker hit, killed by car on Cedar Bay Street near Curry Ford and Conway roads on Thursday, Nov 12, 2015

A lawn care worker was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday as he rode his mower.

The incident happened in Orlando on Cedar Bay Street near Curry Ford and Conway roads around 8 a.m.

Residents told Channel 9's Mario Boone that the accident happened following a crash that closed Curry Ford Road.

They said drivers began using Cedar Bay Street as a way around the road closure.

Mario Cantillo, who works for a lawn care service, said many people don't realize how hazardous the job can be.

"With the noise of the mowers and everything, we cannot hear everything that's going on around us, so we expect people to pay a little more attention," he said.

Police have not released the identity of the man killed and said they have not determined whether charges will be filed in the case.
