Phoenix, AZ : Pedestrian injured in hit-and-run collision near I-17 in Phoenix on Wednesday, 12th February, 2020

A pedestrian struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision Wednesday morning shut down Interstate 17 access at Dunlap Avenue, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Emergency crews were called to the location around 5:45 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing a woman in the roadway who appeared to have been hit by a car. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.Both the overpass and I-17 access were blocked. Drivers were encouraged to seek alternate routes as the investigation continued, police said. The northbound and southbound off-ramps were also closed, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Police were still working on a vehicle description for the car involved in the collision.
