Van Buren, NY : Man dies after being hit by tractor-trailer at FedEx trasfer facility in Van Buren on Saturday, November 15, 2014
State Police are investigating the death of a man who was struck by a tractor-trailer at a Syracuse area FedEx facility.
Troopers say 66-year-old Lewis Pipher of Auburn got out of the passenger side of an International tractor-trailer at the FedEx Transfer Facility in the town of Van Buren shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday. As he was crossing in front of the vehicle toward the security building, Pipher was struck.
Police say the driver, 66-year-old Anselm Martin of Oswego, didn't see Pipher walk around the front of the truck. He struck him as he was pulling away from the building to park the truck.
Pipher died at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
