GRAYSON COUNTY, TX : 3 East Texas students killed in crash on Highway 69 on Friday, 30th August 2024

Three juveniles died in a three-vehicle crash in Grayson County on Friday.

According to a DPS report, Hyrum Grandy, 40, of Lone Oak, was driving south on Highway 69 in a Hyundai Elantra at about 7:20 p.m., when he swerved onto the shoulder to avoid hitting vehicles in front of him that had slowed down.

The report says he maneuvered around a couple of vehicles, but then attempted to get back on the roadway and hit a Ford F-150 in the southbound lane. The Hyundai continued to move forward, entering the northbound lane, where an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado struck its left side.

Amara Grandy, 13; Alexander Grandy, 14; and Alvin Grandy, 10, were passengers in the Hyundai, and all three have died.
