A fatal vehicle crash has closed a section of I-77 northbound near Mooresville, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the deadly crash that occurred around 4:20 p.m. on I-77 northbound near Highway 150 near Mooresville.
Troopers state that a Nissan Sentra was traveling north in the emergency lane and failed to reduce speed and collied with a tractor trailer that was stopped in the emergency lane.
Officials state that the driver of the Sentra identified as Allante Watts, 28, of Gastonia died from his injuries at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
