Two teens from the Aurora area were killed Tuesday night in a crash with a semi-truck while they were on their way to a school basketball game in Rochelle, Ill.
Hearts were heavy at Aurora Central Catholic High School and surrounding communities, where students, teachers and administrators are praying for the victims and their families.
16-year-old Allison Bradford, of Aurora, known as Ally, was beloved by her classmates and renowned for her ready smile and prowess on the volleyball and basketball court.
Relatives of the other victim, Seth Egger are struggling to absorb what’s happen. Liked Alley, 16-year-old Seth of Montgomery, Illinois was widely admired by his peers and many friends.
Seth’s older sister Miranda is heartbroken. 11 years after losing her father to cancer, the 19-year-old must now face life without her baby brother.
“He was just a lovable person,” she said. “With a lot of love to give.”
The accident happened just before 6 p.m. Tuesday on Route 38, just west of Interstate 39.
The Rochelle Fire Department says six people were riding in an SUV when it struck a semi and partially slid under the trailer. It was very foggy at the time.
The driver of the SUV was critically injured and remains hospitalized. He was cited by Illinois State Police for running a red light.
A special mass for the victims was held at Aurora Central Wednesday morning.
