Los Angeles, CA : One person died in a crash involving a trash truck and compact car in El Sereno on Wednesday morning, March 23, 2016

A driver has died after he lost control of his car and hit a trash truck in Los Angeles.

City News Service says 21-year-old Jesus Padilla of Los Angeles died at the scene of the crash in El Sereno Wednesday morning.

The truck driver wasn't hurt.

Police say Padilla was passing another car when he lost control of his 1991 Ford Mustang and swerved into the path of the privately owned trash truck.

Police say the Mustang was doing at least 50 mph before the crash but it doesn't appear drugs or alcohol were involved.
