South Berwick, ME : Head-on crash closes Route 236 near Old Mill Road on Friday, October 28, 2016

Route 236 was closed for more than an hour Friday following a head-on collision near Old Mill Road.

The crash occurred just before 1 p.m. between 2005 Honda Civic and a 2013 Ford F550 pickup truck.

Tammy Buckman-Guilliams, 47, of Locust Lane, South Berwick, Maine, was operating a black 2005 Honda Civic northbound on Route 236.

It appears Buckman-Guilliams Honda crossed over the center line into the southbound land and a head-on accident resulted, according to a press release from South Berwick Police.

Buckman-Guilliams was initially entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by South Berwick Fire. She was later transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H., with serious injuries, police said.

Jesse Gretzinger, 38, of Ladd Street, Portsmouth, N.H., was operating the truck southbound on Route 236. The vehicle is owned by Atlas Stoneworks LLC of Cape Neddick, Maine.

Gretzinger was not injured as a result of the crash. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and traffic was detoured for about 90 minutes, police said.

South Berwick fire and police departments responded, as well as York Ambulance.
