Las Vegas, NV : Anthony Viola, 19, killed after car fell from 215 overpass early Wednesday, April 13, 2016

The man killed in a crash when his car fell from a highway overpass early Wednesday has been identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Anthony Viola, 19, of Las Vegas was driving a black Mercury Grand Marquis west on Summerlin Parkway toward the 215 Beltway overpass about 2 a.m., according to NHP.

Viola worked as a security guard with Allied Barton Security Services and started work about 5 the previous morning, according to his parents, Ellen and Louis Viola.

“It’s very unusual for him to be coming home that late,” his mother said.

A trooper noticed the overturned car off the roadway of the Beltway, NHP trooper Jason Buratczuk said.

Viola failed to maintain his travel lane, striking a traffic sign to the right of the roadway. The vehicle continued west and hit the right concrete bridge retaining wall, NHP said.

The vehicle overturned and fell from the overpass onto the northbound lanes of the Beltway, landing on its roof, NHP said.

Viola, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Viola received a varsity letter in cross-country as a sophomore at Durango High School, started his own record label, was active in his church, and volunteered at local food banks and charities.
