Holton, KS : Three people injured after a two-vehicle crash in Jackson County on Wednesday night, February 17, 2016

Three people were transported to area hospitals Wednesday night after a two-vehicle crash about five miles south of Holton in Jackson County.

At least one of the individuals was in serious condition, though the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse said.

The crash was reported at 8:54 p.m. near 190th and US-75 highway.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a 2001 four-door Nissan Maxima that was northbound on US-75 in the left lane collided with a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck that had been traveling east on 190th Road and was making a left-hand turn onto northbound US-75.

The patrol said the pickup truck failed to yield the right of way to the Maxima, which struck the rear of the pickup truck. The patrol said the pickup truck then overturned and came to rest on the right shoulder of northbound US-75, while the Maxima came to a stop in the median.

The driver of the Nissan, Jim C.M. McClintock, 34, of Holton, was reported possibly injured and was taken by private vehicle to Holton Community Hospital for treatment. The patrol said McClintock was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the pickup truck, William R. Simmons, 49, of Denison, and a passenger, Cody A. Simmons, 23, of Denison, both suffered disabling injuries and were taken to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.

The patrol said Simmons wasn’t wearing a seat belt, while Simmons was in his safety restraint.

In July 2015, a crash at the same intersection sent six people to the hospital.
