A North Carolina man was killed when his motorcycle crashed Friday morning in a culvert off Route 9.
Peter Nosek, 44, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at around 10:50 a.m. Friday by members of the Bennington Rescue Squad.
Police said Nosek was driving west on Route 9 on a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Nosek was riding with two other motorcyclists.
The two other riders had passed several westbound vehicles, but when Nosek started to pass, a dump truck came around the corner, police said.
Nosek’s motorcycle went off the road from the eastbound lane and traveled about 400 feet before striking a culvert.
Police said Nosek was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a large rock.
The crash was reported around 10:20 a.m. Friday.
