7-year-old boy among 10 killed in accidents over weekend

Ten people were killed in accidents on metro area roads over the weekend, including a 7-year-old boy.Erica Lewis lost her son, Jamal, when the SUV he was riding in flipped over on Friday night. The driver of the SUV said she missed her exit and then flipped into a guardrail after she over-corrected.
Two of Lewis' other children – 6-year-old Jasmine and 14-year-old Sandterrie – were also transported to hospitals with injuries suffered in the accident. Lewis said she's hopeful they can recover.
Lewis said she has hard feelings for the friend driving the SUV, but wishes she had used better judgment behind the wheel.
"She said she almost missed her exit and she tried to get over real fast and the back tire caught something and flipped," said Lewis.
Lewis said she hoped others would pay attention while driving. It can happen just as fast as you never think that you will wake up and be in my shoes because you did not follow directions," Lewis said. "Make a good decision when you get in that car. Think smart."
The family has established a fund to help pay funeral and medical expenses. Donations can be made to the "Lewis Family Donation Fund" at any Wells Fargo bank in metro Atlanta.
