Dodge County, WI : Semi-trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of cheese overturned in a pond after crashing into a pickup truck in the Township of Herman on Wednesday night, March 18, 2015
A 67-year-old man was seriously injured in a Wednesday night crash in the Town of Herman in Dodge County.
The crash, which occurred on Highway 33 shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, involved a pickup truck towing a trailer and a large truck carrying thousands of pounds of cheese, the Dodge County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office said a 36-year-old Neosho man, Bradley Strobel, was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck towing a trailer and entered an intersection, where the pickup was hit by the other truck, which was carrying 40,000 pounds of cheese.
The truck overturned in a pond, resulting in a diesel fuel spill. The two drivers, Strobel and John Wiseman, 53, of Ohio, suffered injuries that aren't thought to be life-threatening and were taken to area hospitals.
A passenger in the pickup truck, David Strobel, 67, was seriously injured and flown from the scene to Froedtert Hospital by a Flight for Life helicopter, the sheriff's office said.
Highway 33 was closed for about three hours, and only one traffic lane was open until about 10 a.m. Thursday, more than 13 hours after the crash occurred.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team, the sheriff's office said.
