TAMPA, FL : Lake Alfred truck driver injured in crash that kills Valrico man on Monday, December 5th, 2016

A Lake Alfred truck driver was injured Monday afternoon when his vehicle struck a small tractor in south Hillsborough County, killing the driver.Tommy Mars, 57, was westbound in a tractor-trailer on State Road 674 east of Owens Lake Road when he rear-ended a farm tractor straddling the outside shoulder of the road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
James Simmons, 84, of Valrico, died at the scene, the FHP said.
Mars was treated for minor injuries at South Bay Hospital in Sun City Center. The accident occurred at 3 p.m. Charges are pending an investigation, the FHP said.
