Clear Spring, MD : Warfordsburg woman killed in crash on I-70 near Clear Spring on Monday morning, May 9, 2016

A Warfordsburg, Pa., woman died from injuries she suffered Monday morning when the vehicle she was driving struck a tree in the median of Interstate 70 near Clear Spring, Maryland State Police said.

Jessica N. Dones, 27, was pronounced dead at Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown, according to a news release from state police.

Troopers said the accident was reported at 9:11 a.m. on I-70 east near the 21-mile marker, which is about halfway between Clear Spring and Williamsport.

Dones was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer when the sport-utility vehicle left the roadway, slid on the grassy surface in the median and struck a tree head-on, police said.

A witness told investigators that Dones was driving erratically before the vehicle left the roadway, according to police.
Traffic was reduced to one lane on I-70 while workers responded to the call.
