Enid, OK : Two men killed in Garriott collision early Friday morning on July 11, 2014
Police have identified two people killed early Friday morning when their car struck a semi at 54th and U.S. 412.
Enid Police Department responded to a 911 call at 12:35 a.m. Friday reporting an injury accident involving two vehicles at the intersection, Lt. Warren Wilson said.
Investigators found a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by Richard Walker, 38, of Enid, was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound with only one functioning headlight prior to the crash.
An AdvancePierre Food semi-trailer, driven by Percy Campbell, 35, of Enid, pulled away from the stop sign northbound into the intersection in front of the Mitsubishi.
The car struck the semi, killing both Walker and his passenger, identified as Don Richard Powell II, also of Enid.
Wilson said investigators noted an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the Mitsubishi and located a full can of malt beverage in the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing and no citations have been issued.
