Conway, AR : Conway resident killed in Grant County crash on Wednesday, January, 17th 2018
A Conway woman died in a crash caused by icy roads, according to an Arkansas State Police report.
The crash occurred at the 8000 block on Hwy 167 north in Grant County just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the report stated.
According to police, 62-year-old Dorothiea Hyde of Conway was traveling southbound on Hwy 167 north when she lost control of her vehicle.
The vehicle, a 2011 Nissan Versa, then spun on the ice and into the path of a Freightliner, the officer said.
The Freightliner attempted to miss the vehicle by swerving into the right lane, when the Nissan struck its driver’s side.
The ASP report lists the Freightliner as heading north and the officer’s description of the accident indicates it was heading north as well; however, at one point in the report, the Freightliner is listed as heading south.
Hyde was pronounced dead on scene by Grant County Coroner Thomas Berchfield.
The driver of the Freightliner, Romon Kendrix of El Dorado, was reportedly not injured in the accident.
Authorities described the weather as clear and the roads as icy at the time of the crash.
There have been at least 6 fatalities on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary data.
