Cottondale, AL : Driver killed after roll-over crash in Cottondale on Sunday, 2nd February, 2020

A driver was killed in a wreck late Sunday after swerving to avoid something in the roadway, according to Tuscaloosa Police.

Witnesses told police the man was traveling west on University Boulevard East in Cottondale when he veered to the right to avoid hitting something, said TPD Lt. Teena Richardson. The vehicle ran into a ditch and overturned several times before coming to rests in the intersection of University Boulevard and Avalon Street.

Officers arrived just before midnight and found the driver partially ejected from the upside-down vehicle, Richardson said. MedControl extricated the victim and pronounced him dead at the scene, she said.

The victim’s name had not been released as of Monday morning.
