A 91-year-old man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on South Dakota Highway 44 in Pennington County.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Roman Kurylas of Rapid City died Saturday.
The Patrol says Kurylas was behind the wheel of a sports utility vehicle heading east on S.D. Highway 44 when he crossed the center line and entered the westbound lanes of traffic. Kurylas then crashed into the driver's side of a pickup truck pulling a trailer loaded with pea gravel.
Authorities say Kurylas wasn't wearing a seatbelt and died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The pickup was being driven by 44-year-old Donald Burkhard. The Rapid City man was traveling with a juvenile. Neither Burkhard nor his passenger was injured. Both were wearing seatbelts.
The Patrol is investigating the crash.
