Chickasha, OK : Semi driver dies in crash after swerving to miss tires on Tuesday, November, 21st 2017

A Maysville semi truck driver died Tuesday night after swerving to miss tires that came off a pickup, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Brian Atkins, 45, was northbound on US81 about 2.5 miles south of Pocasset. The rear dual tires on the driver’s side of a southbound pickup truck came off, crossing into the other lane, according to OHP. Atkins swerved right and off the roadway, overturning before coming to rest. Atkins was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.

The northbound and southbound lanes of US 81 from CR 1280 to CR 1290 were closed from 11:45 p.m. to 3:05 a.m., the report said.
